Why Should You Attend Normandy Elementary?

Core Knowledge

Normandy Elementary is a Core Knowledge School of Innovation. Our rich science and history curriculum empowers students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become literate citizens who effectively participate in the school, neighborhood, and global community.

Normandy Elementary connects our science and history curriculum to reading, writing, the visual arts and music education. The Core Knowledge curriculum provides a critical foundation of knowledge and promotes excellence and equity in education for all students.

Makerspace

Normandy’s PTO has fully funded a Makerspace for our students to support STEM learning opportunities,  the engineering design process, and robotics. Students explore the Makerspace weekly!

Garden

Normandy’s staff, students, and families love to garden! With the support of our “Garden Lady” students participate in a farm to table and farm to market program. They learn how to harvest seeds, sow and care for them, pick vegetables, and prepare them for the table. Seedlings and crops are sold at our Farmer’s Market.

Positive Behavior Intervention Support

Our Normandy Knights wear their ARMOR to school daily. The Normandy Knights are:

A - Always Safe
R - Respectful
M - Motivated
O - Owning it
R - Responsible

We recognize members of our community for showing these values and traits through the use of classroom ARMOR cards, class and school-wide rewards, and nominating students and staff as Knights of the Round Table for exemplifying our values. ARMOR UP, Knights!

Outstanding Family-School Partnerships

Normandy has an active community. Our PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) organizes family events, supports teachers in the classroom with resources, provides funding for assemblies and school resources, and raises funds for our school. Normandy’s SAC (School Accountability Committee) engages in conversations and provides guidance to the principal about the school improvement plan, family school partnerships, growth and achievement data, the school budget, and climate and culture. We engage our dads, grandfathers, uncles, and important males in the lives of our students in our Watch DOGS program, and strive to have volunteers join us each day. We truly find unity in commUNITY!
